Oklahoma’s refusal to include abortion information in its family planning services led to the withdrawal of funding by HHS. Despite legal challenges, including denials by lower courts, Oklahoma is seeking relief from the Supreme Court.
The state argues that HHS’s actions constitute unwarranted political interference and a violation of the Constitution. Oklahoma maintains that it has the right to distribute funds for family planning services without being required to provide abortion referrals.
