A Democratic-leaning group, Stand Up America, has launched a seven-figure campaign to raise voter awareness about the significance of the Supreme Court in the upcoming presidential election. The campaign will focus on key issues such as abortion, gun safety, and voting rights.
The $1 million campaign coincides with the second anniversary of the Dobbs v. Jackson decision, which overturned the right to abortion. Stand Up America aims to highlight the potential impact of the election on the Supreme Court, emphasizing that the next president could make significant appointments that shape the court’s direction.
Democrats are looking to capitalize on the importance of the courts, following the lead of Republicans who have successfully made the Supreme Court a central issue in past elections. With support from celebrities like Barbra Streisand and Andy Cohen, as well as social media influencers and other key figures, Stand Up America’s campaign will include a website and targeted digital ads in battleground states.
President Biden has also been vocal about the role of the Supreme Court, warning about the consequences of potential conservative appointments. Stand Up America’s efforts include a get-out-the-vote operation and a pledge for voters to prioritize Supreme Court issues in their decision-making.
Internal polling conducted by Stand Up America revealed that a majority of voters consider Supreme Court appointments when choosing a presidential candidate. The group’s Executive Director, Christina Harvey, emphasized the importance of issues like abortion, gun safety, and voting rights, urging voters to prioritize these concerns in the upcoming election.
