A tragic incident occurred in Milwaukee early Monday, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old girl and the injury of eight other teenagers. The shooting took place at Dineen Park on the city’s west side, where a group of young people had gathered for a party. Police responded to a 911 call around 12:30 a.m. and found the girl deceased along with the other victims.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the incident to identify the perpetrator(s) and determine the motive behind the shooting. Among the injured were five 18-year-old women, two 18-year-old men, and a 15-year-old boy, who were all receiving medical treatment at local hospitals. One of the male victims was in critical condition, while the others were stable.
In addition to the gunshot victims, a young woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries from being trampled during the chaos. The shooting occurred following an invitation posted on social media for a gathering at Dineen Park, which attracted dozens of teenagers.
Reports indicate that an argument escalated into the shooting incident, which also resulted in damage to two nearby homes from stray bullets. Fortunately, no injuries were reported at the residences. The community is in shock over this senseless act of violence, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
