Chilling Home Security Footage Captures Woman Escaping Alleged Abductor
Home security footage captured a chilling moment as a terrified woman begged Oregon homeowners for help after she jumped out of a moving car to escape her alleged machete-wielding abductor.
The 47-year-old victim, who remains unidentified, was first seen hiding in a stranger’s Portland driveway around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, just seconds after escaping her alleged abductor. Ring doorbell video obtained by KATU shows the dramatic escape.
She then ran towards the stranger’s front porch, banging on the door desperately as the suspect’s car was parked at the end of the driveway.
“He’s trying to abduct me,” the woman yelled as she pleaded on the phone with 911.
Seconds later, her alleged abductor drove away from the house while the victim watched him flee.
The Portland Police Bureau reported that the victim was walking home when the suspect, Ra Fet, pulled over in his car and offered her a ride, which she accepted.
Fet, 25, allegedly began making sexual remarks to the victim and groped her when she entered his car, according to KATU.
Police informed the outlet that the suspect then pulled into a restaurant parking lot and brandished a machete.
The victim attempted to open the door to exit the car, but Fet accelerated, preventing her from leaving.
“The victim began physically fighting the man as he drove and he punched her in the face,” according to the Portland Police Bureau.
Fet slowed the car enough for the woman to jump out, but he struck her in the nose before she made her escape.
She then ran down the road, eventually hiding in the driveway and knocking on the stranger’s door for help.
Less than an hour later, police spotted the suspected kidnapper’s car and conducted a traffic stop.
Officers had the victim identify Fet at the scene of the traffic stop, where she confirmed him as the man who sexually assaulted and attempted to kidnap her.
He was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center.
The woman received treatment for cuts and bruises.
Fet, a Thailand national, appeared in court on Monday with a Burmese translator.
He faces charges of Kidnapping in the First Degree, Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, Coercion, Menacing, Assault in the Fourth Degree, Reckless Driving, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
Fet pleaded not guilty to all charges and will remain at the Multnomah County Detention Center without bond, according to KATU.
In May 2023, Fet was arrested for threatening a family with a gun at their home, where he shot at their car tires during the altercation and was charged with menacing and criminal mischief.
In April alone, there were 22 reported kidnappings in Portland, nearly matching the 26 reported kidnappings in 2023.
