An individual from out of town was discovered stabbed to death early Sunday outside a Bay Ridge bar that local residents described as “always crazy.”
The victim, a 37-year-old man from Pennsylvania whose identity has not been disclosed pending family notification, was reportedly stabbed outside Catch 22 on Third Avenue in Brooklyn around 2:50 a.m., according to the police.
Police found the victim with a torso wound and immediately transported him to NYU Langone, but unfortunately, he did not survive, authorities confirmed.
As of now, no arrests have been made, stated a police department representative.
Footage from a nearby surveillance camera indicates that the victim was on his hands and knees after the stabbing, with onlookers gathering slowly around him.
By Sunday morning, a bloody handprint was visible on the concrete next to a pool of the victim’s blood.
A friend of the victim, who had just spoken to the police outside the bar on Sunday, hinted that the killing was not a random act.
Neighbors mentioned that the bar has a reputation for being rowdy.
“The place is always crazy, always an argument outside,” said a female resident to The Post on Sunday.
Several other locals joined in, shouting towards the building that the authorities “have to shut this place down.”
Moses Alhusaini, the manager of M&S Minimarket across the street, witnessed the police arriving with their sirens on.
“The man was lying on the ground,” Alhusaini recalled. “The police were surrounding him, and he was behind the car. It was eerily quiet. No one was speaking. The man on the ground was silent.”
Alhusaini also mentioned witnessing numerous issues at the bar during the pandemic, including fights among the crowds.
“It was chaotic many times, but now things seem to be under control,” he said. “The owner is taking matters seriously. That’s why I am shocked to see this happening now.”
A bartender at the establishment declined to comment when approached by The Post on Sunday.
A female neighbor recalled, “They were hosting some kind of private event there last night.”
“It was noisy and chaotic outside,” she added. “I quickly took my daughter and hurried past. There were a lot of people outside, and it can get dangerous over there.”
