A recent data breach at airport parking service Park’N Fly has compromised the personal files of one million customers. The breach, which occurred last month, involved unauthorized access to customer information but did not include any financial data, according to a statement from the company.
The breach was the result of a third party gaining illicit remote VPN access to the Park’N Fly network between July 11 and July 13. Park’N Fly’s Information Technology team, along with their cyber security partner, launched an immediate investigation and restored all platforms within five days.
Customer names, email and mailing addresses, Aeroplan and CAA account numbers were among the compromised information. Park’N Fly has contacted all affected customers and assured that no credit card or password information was stored on their servers.
Park’N Fly Canada CEO Carlo Marrello emphasized the company’s commitment to customer trust and security, stating that they are taking necessary steps to safeguard customer information and prioritize system integrity.
To enhance security measures, Park’N Fly has increased surveillance with their cyber security partner, updated anti-virus software, and implemented technical and administrative upgrades to network security.
Previously owned by BRL Realty, RNE Realty, and Park’N Fly Partnership, the company was acquired in May 2014 for $397.5 million. CK Hutchison Holdings operates in multiple countries, including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and China.
