Recent events have seen a disturbing increase in antisemitism in North America, with nearly 200 swatting incidents targeting Jewish organizations and children being arrested for planning attacks on synagogues. According to a report by Mack Lamoureux for Vice, the Secure Community Network has documented a shocking 199 swatting incidents and false bomb threats aimed at Jewish facilities, with the majority occurring in California, Arizona, Connecticut, Colorado, and Washington. Swatting, the act of falsely reporting an emergency to trigger a SWAT team response, has been a prevalent tactic in these attacks.
Additionally, two minors have been apprehended for planning attacks on synagogues, with the FBI suspecting coordination from outside the United States. The rise in antisemitic and Islamophobic attacks has been notable since Israel’s conflict with Hamas began on October 7 in response to a terrorist incident.
