LONG BEACH, Calif.—A tragic incident occurred in Long Beach on June 9, where a man was struck by three vehicles and killed in the early morning hours, according to authorities.
The fatal crashes took place around 2:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of East Pacific Coast Highway, near Molino Avenue, as reported by the Long Beach Police Department.
Following the accidents, the first vehicle involved fled the scene, while the driver of the second vehicle, a 2017 Kia Sportage, stopped and contacted 911 for assistance.
“As the driver waited for police to arrive, they witnessed the pedestrian being hit again by a white truck and dragged east of Molino Avenue,” stated a police report. “The truck fled before officers reached the scene. The driver of the Kia Sportage remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.”
The first vehicle was traveling eastbound in the No. 2 lane of Pacific Coast Highway when it struck the man, who was crossing northbound outside of a crosswalk, according to authorities. The impact propelled the pedestrian into the No. 1 lane at the intersection of Molino Avenue.
Tragically, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
