An 18-year-old Brampton woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing a Porsche and backing over the owner of the vehicle as she took off.
In the video, Badshaw is seen on the homeās security camera approaching the victimās door in the area of Winston Churchill and Eglinton Avenue in Mississauga and rings the doorbell. When the victim answered, she said she was there to see the 2022 Porsche Cayenne, and that she’d like to look at it while she was waiting for her father.
In the next segment of the video, the victim is seen walking from the driverās side of the vehicle to the passenger door, which he tries to open but it appears locked. He then tries the back door on the passenger side, but it also doesnāt open. He then steps behind the vehicle, which suddenly reverses rapidly into the street, knocking him down.
āWhile viewing the vehicle, the suspect reversed rapidly, striking and injuring the victim before fleeing with the stolen vehicle,ā the release says.
Police said Badshaw has been charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm, theft of a motor vehicle, failing to remain after an accident resulted in bodily harm, and driving without a licence.
She is also facing prior fraud-related charges in Peel not connected to the incident. Police said she is also wanted by other police services for separate investigations.
The Porche was found on Sept. 18 abandoned in Mississauga.
Cst. Tyler Bell-Morena said it had been the public sharing of the video that helped police find Badshaw.
The video was shared on PRPās Facebook, X platform, and YouTube accounts. As of Sept. 21, it had been viewed 62,000 times on Facebook, 81.900 times on X, and 62,000 on YouTube.
