In Santa Ana, California, Orange County election officials announced that a “poker chip” drawing will determine which argument against a proposed $496 million bond measure for the Anaheim Union School District will be printed in the County Voter Information Guide for the 2024 Presidential General Election.
Competing arguments were filed by Kevin Carr of Stanton and Emili DeCrew of Anaheim. Only one of these arguments will be included in the guide.
The drawing is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday at the Orange County Registrar of Voters office in Santa Ana. Each individual will be assigned a poker chip, and one chip will be randomly selected from a bag.
The event will be open to the argument signers and the public, either in person or through a live stream at ocvote.gov/observe.
If approved, the proceeds from the bond measure will be used for school facility construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation, or replacement. The measure also allows the district to levy an annual property tax until fiscal year 2056-57 to repay the bond debt.
