Another stabbing incident has taken place in Australia, and the police are still searching for the suspect. This incident adds to a series of stabbing attacks that have occurred in the country over the past two weeks.
On April 21, police responded to a situation involving two males at Highpoint Shopping Centre in Maribyrnong, Melbourne. Witnesses reported that two young men were involved in a physical altercation in front of a Korean restaurant at the shopping centre around 2:30 p.m. The situation escalated, leading to one man allegedly stabbing the other in the upper body, causing severe injuries. The alleged perpetrator fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment and is reported to be in a stable condition. The suspect is still at large.
Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the incident and are asking for the public’s assistance in providing any information or footage they may have of the incident.
This incident comes in the wake of recent stabbing attacks that have shaken the Australian community. On April 13, a man with a history of mental illness went on a stabbing spree at a Westfield shopping centre in Bondi Junction, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries. Additionally, on April 15, a 16-year-old boy allegedly stabbed an Assyrian bishop during a livestream service at a church in Western Sydney, sparking a riot in the local community.
The teenager involved in the church stabbing has been charged with terrorism offences, while authorities have also charged three other individuals in connection with the riot.
These incidents have raised concerns about social cohesion in Australia, prompting Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to defend multiculturalism.
