The suspect, Toby Shane Kessler, has a “history of criminal behavior,” according to police.
Authorities in Virginia have named Toby Shane Kessler as the individual suspected of burglarizing a Trump for President 2024 campaign office in Ashburn on the evening of Aug. 11.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) has issued a warrant for Kessler’s arrest on a charge of burglary in connection with the break-in at the office located roughly 30 miles from downtown Washington.
Kessler has been in the Washington Metropolitan Area since at least 2018 but holds a California driver’s license, authorities revealed.
The Trump campaign office, situated in the 20000 block of Ashbrook Place, also serves as the headquarters of the Virginia 10th District Republican Committee.
The burglary, which occurred at approximately 8:11 pm, was captured on surveillance cameras inside the office.
Earlier this week, authorities released still photos of the suspect, described as a white adult male in dark clothing with a mustard backpack.
Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman remarked, “It is unusual for the office of any political campaign or party to be broken into. We are committed to identifying the suspect, investigating the motives, and determining what was taken or left behind.”
Following their investigation, the LCSO revealed that Kessler forcibly entered the office through a back door and spent a brief period inside before departing.
“He did not leave anything behind, and it remains unclear what, if anything, he may have taken with him,” the sheriff’s office stated.
Efforts are underway to locate Kessler with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies, and the public’s help is sought.
“Anyone with information about the burglary or the whereabouts of Mr. Kessler is urged to contact Detective Franks at 571-918-1869,” officials added.
