Aylo Holdings S.A.R.L., the company behind Pornhub and other adult websites, has admitted in federal court to profiting from pornographic content featuring sex trafficking victims. However, they have pleaded not guilty to charges of engaging in unlawful monetary transactions related to sex trafficking proceeds, as reported by Erin Nolan of the New York Times. As part of an agreement with prosecutors, the company has agreed to compensate women who were coerced into appearing in pornographic videos that were then uploaded to their websites without consent.
This deferred prosecution agreement entails a fine exceeding $1.8 million for Aylo, along with the appointment of a monitor to evaluate their content screening protocols and handling of illegal content reports on their platforms. In exchange, the charges against Aylo could be dismissed after a three-year period. This agreement aims to hold the company accountable for its actions and prevent similar incidents in the future.
