A well-known actor from “Power Rangers” has been sentenced to 45 days in prison for a violent assault on an elderly man using a walker.
Hector David Rivera, famous for portraying the green Power Ranger, received the sentence after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge for the attack that was captured on camera in Nampa, Idaho in July 2024.
Initially sentenced to 180 days in prison, Rivera will only serve 45 days after a suspension of 135 days by Canyon County Court Judge Matthew B. Schelstrate, with the condition of avoiding trouble post-release.
In addition to prison time, Rivera was placed on two years of supervised probation and ordered to complete 100 hours of community service.
The assault, captured on a dashboard camera by a bystander, showed Rivera shoving the elderly man to the ground and yelling at him in a parking lot after an argument over a parking issue.
The Nampa Police Department stated that the incident occurred following a dispute over a handicapped parking spot that Rivera had parked in.
After pushing the elderly man, Rivera left the scene in his vehicle.
Initially unidentified, police posted the video online, leading to Rivera’s identification as the suspect.
Officer Erick Moore shared that the social media search quickly led them to the actor.
Community support and social media played a significant role in identifying Rivera as the perpetrator, according to Officer Moore.
Prior to the incident, Rivera was scheduled to appear at a comic convention but did not attend.
Fortunately, the elderly man did not sustain any injuries from the assault.
Rivera, originally from Connecticut, has continued his acting career post-Power Rangers, appearing in numerous productions including the 2024 Netflix film “The Merry Gentleman.”
Since his time on “Power Rangers,” Rivera has continued to pursue acting opportunities, with his latest role in “The Merry Gentleman” showcasing his talent.
The actor’s future remains uncertain following his legal troubles, but his body of work in the entertainment industry is a testament to his dedication and passion for the craft.
