A famous rap star, known as Fredo, was implicated in a trial as a co-conspirator in a plot to shoot his rival, Digga D. Eight alleged gang members are on trial for attempting to buy guns as part of this plan, with Fredo being named as a co-conspirator. The group, known as the Harrow Road Boys, has a history of violence with rival gangs, as depicted in their drill rap videos. The prosecution will rely on evidence from a Snapchat group, where discussions about gang activities and acquiring firearms took place. Fredo, described as a high-profile rap star, was found to have connections to the gang and was seen wearing a pendant believed to reference a deceased member during a police arrest. The prosecution also highlighted a mural in Fredo’s office depicting his association with the gang.
McCullagh and two others were depicted with halos over their heads, indicating they were deceased. However, it was noted that the mural also included a live Daneche Tison, who was later killed.
It was mentioned that two of the defendants, Jayvon Tison and Romello Briggs-Leon, were also portrayed in the mural.
During the proceedings, Judge Sarah Plaschkes, KC, addressed a note from one of the jurors who expressed concern about the lack of diversity on the jury. The juror felt it was “odd” that the jury was predominantly white while most of the defendants were black.
Judge Plaschkes explained to the juror that the jury selection process was random and color-blind. She emphasized that the jury must base their verdict solely on the evidence presented in the case.
The trial is expected to continue until August.
