Rep. Bob Good, chair of the House Freedom Caucus, explained that GOP lawmakers attended former President Donald Trump’s New York trial to speak out on his behalf due to a gag order preventing him from doing so. Good stated that they were there to say things that the judge, whom he described as corrupt, was not allowing Trump to say. Good also highlighted the judge’s daughter’s involvement in Democratic political consulting, suggesting bias in the case. The gag order prohibits Trump from commenting on various aspects of the trial, leading to fines for violations. Good and other Republicans accused Democrats of attempting to keep Trump off the ballot through legal tactics. They emphasized the importance of protecting Trump’s rights and ensuring a fair legal process.
According to his legal team, the gag order infringes upon constitutional rights because President Trump is the top GOP presidential candidate.
