The former head of the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau, Joseph Reznick, sprang into action on Wednesday to apprehend two teenagers carrying pills on his property in Queens. Reznick, 72, a retired deputy police commissioner who led the IAB until 2022, detained the youths after they trespassed into his yard on 89th Ave, as reported by police sources and witnesses.
Upon police arrival around 8 p.m., the teenagers were found in possession of 10 oxycodone pills. It was noted that the teens were part of a larger group seen walking down the street prior to the incident. Two of them were wearing ski masks, arousing suspicion among residents.
One neighbor observed the suspicious behavior of the group and alerted the authorities when they saw the teenagers on Reznick’s property. The police managed to capture three of the teenagers nearby, while Reznick detained the remaining two.
Residents expressed shock at the incident, with one stating, “That’s scary. We don’t see stuff like this. … That’s wild.” Another neighbor emphasized Reznick’s no-nonsense approach, saying, “That’s the lieutenant’s house. He doesn’t play.”
