Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is set to host a voter rally in Des Moines on April 13 as part of his efforts to secure ballot access in Iowa.
According to Mr. Kennedy’s campaign, independent candidates in Iowa can achieve ballot access in a single day if 500 eligible voters attend an assembly and sign a form confirming their presence.
Mr. Kennedy has expressed his goal of appearing on the ballot in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Currently, he is already on the ballot in Utah and has gathered enough signatures to secure a spot in Hawaii, Idaho, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Nevada, and North Carolina.
As of April 9, Mr. Kennedy’s campaign had amassed 4,800 signatures in Nebraska, double the required amount for ballot access. Similarly, on April 4, the campaign collected 2,000 signatures in Idaho, also exceeding the minimum threshold.
To counter potential challenges to the validity of signatures, Mr. Kennedy’s campaign is collecting 60% more signatures than required in each state.
Notably, Mr. Kennedy recently filed a lawsuit against Idaho, contesting an unconstitutional signature deadline imposed by the state. The legal action referenced a previous case involving independent presidential candidate John Anderson and the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on early deadlines for candidates outside the major parties.
In his bid for ballot access, Mr. Kennedy has faced obstacles in various states, including legal battles and tight filing deadlines. However, his campaign remains determined to secure a spot on the ballot nationwide.
