Today’s world is facing multiple crises, from the war in Ukraine to terrorist attacks and conflicts in the Middle East and South China Sea. The root causes of these crises can be traced back to strategic mistakes made by the United States, particularly in its failure to understand and balance against the threat posed by China.
One reason for this failure is the belief in the “End of History” theory, which led U.S. decision-makers to underestimate the threat from China. Additionally, U.S. business interests prioritized economic gain over national security concerns, further enabling China’s rise. Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping’s strategy of political warfare also played a role in shaping Western perceptions of China.
As a result, China now poses a significant threat to U.S. national security through its actions in various regions and alliances with countries like Iran and Russia. To address this threat, the U.S. must acknowledge China’s aggressive intentions, educate future strategists, and demonstrate sustained presidential leadership.
Furthermore, the failure of the intelligence community to identify China as an existential threat and the lack of preparedness within the U.S. military must be addressed. It is crucial for the U.S. to reverse its past mistakes and take proactive measures to counter the growing influence of China and its allies.
The United States must act decisively to end threat deflation, challenge the dominance of the engagement school of thought, and ultimately defeat the Chinese Communist Party. The future security and stability of the U.S. and the world depend on these critical actions.
