Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been disbarred for his statements challenging the 2020 election results, where Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump.
A New York appeals court stated that charges were brought against Mr. Giuliani for making false and misleading statements to the courts, lawmakers, and the public in his capacity as Trump’s attorney.
In 2021, Mr. Giuliani’s license was suspended indefinitely, and a hearing in 2023 led to 16 charges against him.
Mr. Giuliani’s defense claimed he believed his allegations were true, but the AGC countered that he made ‘knowing falsehoods’ with the ‘intent to deceive.’
The AGC cited a press conference in November 2020 where Mr. Giuliani falsely claimed voter fraud in Philadelphia.
Mr. Giuliani faces RICO charges in Georgia and was ordered to pay damages in a defamation case related to the 2020 election.
Arizona’s Attorney General indicted Mr. Giuliani and 17 others for allegedly conspiring to declare Trump the winner in the state during the 2020 election.
Efforts to reach Mr. Giuliani’s legal team for comment were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
