A man arrested for stabbing nine people in random attacks in Seattle
A maniac was apprehended for stabbing nine individuals in a series of random assaults over a span of two days in Seattle, Washington, as confirmed by law enforcement authorities.
During a 38-hour period, the unidentified suspect carried out the stabbings within a four-block vicinity in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District, according to the Seattle Police Department.
Four of the victims were rushed to Harborview Medical Center due to the random attacks.
All four patients arrived at the hospital in critical condition, with two still in critical condition as of Friday night, according to the Associated Press. One victim was upgraded to satisfactory and another to serious condition by Friday.
Among the victims was a 53-year-old man who was stabbed in the neck and experienced severe bleeding before receiving medical attention, as per the police report.
Authorities were able to track down the suspect by following the trail of blood left by one of the victims as part of their investigation, according to the SPD Blotter.
Seattle police revealed that the assailant stabbed five individuals on Friday and is believed to be involved in four additional stabbings that occurred in the same neighborhood on Thursday.
Deputy Chief Eric Barden pointed out similarities in suspect descriptions and crime profiles as evidence to suggest that the same individual was behind the attacks on both days, as reported by the AP.
“This incident involved one individual carrying out random assaults over a 38-hour period,” Barden stated at the crime scene on Friday, according to the news outlet.
According to the AP, the suspect was located based on witness descriptions and was found with a weapon nearby.
On Thursday, a 53-year-old woman, a 32-year-old man, and a 37-year-old man sustained multiple stab wounds in the Chinatown neighborhood, as per police reports.
“The stabbings in Little Saigon and the Chinatown-International District are horrific, appalling, and shouldn’t occur anywhere in our city,” Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell stated.
“Every individual deserves to feel safe and be safe, and I am committed to utilizing all available resources to enhance the safety of Little Saigon and the historic Chinatown-International District for all residents, workers, and visitors,” the mayor affirmed.
On Thursday night, a tenth stabbing may also be linked to the perpetrator’s spree. Law enforcement officials reported that an assailant attempted to steal a phone from a 60-year-old man in his car. The assailant wielded a knife towards the victim’s chest, but the victim managed to defend himself using his hand.
