During the first term, two individuals served in key national security roles in the administration of President-elect Donald J. Trump.
Sebastian Gorka, who previously held the position of deputy assistant to the president in 2017, has been appointed to reprise that role and also take on the responsibilities of counterterrorism director within the administration. Gorka is known for hosting a widely syndicated radio program.
President Trump praised Gorka’s dedication to the America First Agenda and the MAGA Movement since 2015.
Alex Wong, who had served in the State Department during the initial term, will now hold the position of deputy assistant to the president and principal deputy national security advisor. Additionally, Rep. Michael Waltz (R-Fla.) has been chosen as the national security advisor.
Wong played a significant role in facilitating Trump’s meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un during the first administration, as noted by President Trump in the announcement of these appointments.
