Authorities in Texas apprehended a “most wanted illegal immigrant” on June 13, marking the second capture since Governor Greg Abbott released a list of the state’s top 10 fugitives.
Victor Hugo Chox Gonzalez, 38, was arrested in Fort Worth by Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) special agents for a sex offense against a minor.
Gonzalez, a Mexican national, had previously been convicted of driving under the influence with a child under 15 and assaulting a family member in 2016. Following his conviction, he was deported from the United States. Subsequent to his release on bail for assault and providing false information in 2021, Gonzalez was sought by the Arlington Police Department in 2023 for being a sex offender against a minor.
The DPS’s investigative efforts led to Gonzalez’s arrest, which did not result from information provided through Texas Crime Stoppers, thus no reward will be issued.
The DPS emphasized that the public should not attempt to apprehend these dangerous fugitives, as they are considered armed and perilous.
On June 5, Governor Abbott revealed the state’s most wanted criminal illegal immigrant list, warning of the threat posed by dangerous criminals and terrorists who cross the border illegally.
Another individual on the list, Servando Trejo Duran Jr., 62, was apprehended in Baytown, Texas, following a multi-agency fugitive investigation. Duran, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, was wanted for homicide and burglary and was deemed armed and dangerous by the DPS due to his extensive criminal history.
Two more of Texas’s most wanted offenders, Perci Newman and Louis Keeton, were also taken into custody on June 4 and June 6 respectively. Newman, 31, faces charges including sexual assault of a minor, robbery, drug possession, firearm possession, driving under the influence, and tampering with physical evidence. Keeton, 40, was arrested for sexual assault and has alleged ties to the Bloods gang.
