Kentucky State Police have announced that the Letcher County sheriff is facing first-degree murder charges. The tragic incident took place at the Letcher County Courthouse in Whitesburg, where District Judge Kevin Mullins was fatally shot. The shooting occurred following an argument, and Sheriff Shawn M. Stines has been arrested in connection with the crime. State police responded to a 911 call reporting the incident just before 3 p.m. on Thursday. Despite efforts to save Judge Mullins, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Kentucky Court of Justice and other law enforcement agencies are actively involved in the investigation.
