The Issue: Rep. Ritchie Torres criticizing city and state leadership after a flurry of stabbings.
It’s refreshing to see a Democrat like Rep. Ritchie Torres calling out the governor and mayor for their inaction (âBlood on your hands,â Nov. 25).
Torres speaks from the heart, while Mayor Adams and Gov. Hochul seem to speak out of both sides of their mouths.
Adams blames the City Council for his lack of action, but he should follow Torresâ example and challenge Council Speaker Adrienne Adams on the cityâs sanctuary status instead of calling her his âsister.â
It seems like a gubernatorial run is on the horizon for Torres, and he has my vote.

How can a civilized society allow a mentally unstable individual to freely commit violent acts in New York City?
While this incident is extreme, it is not an isolated one and highlights the neglect of mental health in society.
This is a national issue that needs to be addressed urgently.
Many elected officials seem hesitant to tackle this issue, but some individuals require inpatient treatment rather than outpatient care, which has become increasingly scarce.

We often hear that attackers are mentally deranged, but the actions of individuals like Ramon Rivera, who targeted victims based on vulnerability, show a level of evil rather than insanity.
Labeling criminals as mentally disturbed can evoke unwarranted sympathy when what they deserve is accountability and justice.
It’s time to prioritize the safety of citizens and ensure that these criminals are apprehended and punished accordingly.

As we mourn the victims of the recent stabbing rampage in Manhattan, it’s crucial to ensure the well-being of those left behind, like the son of a single mother who was tragically killed.
I urge The Post to follow up on this story and provide information on how we can support and protect the young boy.

Rep. Ritchie Torres is one of the few Democrats willing to speak out against the failures of his colleagues in addressing the safety of New Yorkers.
Despite the ongoing crimes and lack of consequences for criminals, politicians like Gov. Hochul, Sen. Chuck Schumer, and Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg continue to ignore the issues.
How many more incidents of violence will it take before real change is implemented?
From bail reforms to leniency towards criminal behavior, these politicians have blood on their hands and should be held accountable.

The parole system, as exemplified by the case of career criminal Gary Worthy, is a failure that puts innocent citizens at risk.
Despite multiple arrests and convictions, Worthy was released on parole and continued to commit crimes, eventually resulting in the injury of an NYPD officer.
The Parole Board’s incompetence is evident, and it should be reformed to prevent further instances of criminal behavior endangering the public.
