Random Attack in Queens Subway
An 82-year-old woman was shoved onto the tracks in a Queens subway during a heartless random attack on Wednesday, the police reported. This incident is part of a series of violent encounters in the city’s underground.
The elderly victim was pushed by a stranger just before noon at the Flushing-Main Street No. 7 station while the train was stationary in the station, authorities said.
Sources mentioned that she hit her head on the side of the train, leaving behind a bloody scene, before landing on the tracks between cars.
She was quickly taken by EMTs to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital in stable condition.
The suspected perpetrator fled the station and was still at large Wednesday evening.
This horrific incident follows a series of troubling crimes in the New York City transit system.
In a separate incident last week, Lamel Batten, a half-naked sex offender with 51 past arrests, allegedly attempted to rape a woman at the 116th Street/Columbia University subway station.
Batten assaulted the woman, throwing her against a wall and tearing open her shirt while trying to remove her pants. The victim managed to escape.
Another incident involved a 45-year-old man getting stabbed in the chest during a clash on a Bronx train platform at the 138th Street-Grand Concourse Nos. 4 and 5 subway station in Mott Haven. The victim was treated at Lincoln Medical Center and is in stable condition.
Earlier, a 62-year-old woman was punched in the face and shoved onto Brooklyn subway tracks by a madman after she ignored his request for a lighter. The suspect, Shadrach Ford, 30, was apprehended the following day and charged with attempted murder.
