Jared Fogle, the Disgraced Subway Pitchman
Jared Fogle, the former Subway pitchman, has transitioned from promoting sandwiches on TV to preparing them in prison, where he is serving a sentence for soliciting a minor for sex and possessing child pornography. Fogle, 46, has nearly five years remaining in his sentence and is currently incarcerated at FCI Englewood, a federal prison in Colorado.
Upon his arrival at the facility in 2016, Fogle was assigned to kitchen duty, where he was responsible for making and distributing meals to other inmates. Despite his past success as a Subway spokesperson, his role in the prison kitchen was often a source of amusement for fellow inmates.
Over the years, Fogle has held various jobs within the prison, including janitorial and groundskeeping work, but he has recently returned to his kitchen duty position.
According to the Inmate Admission and Orientation Handbook at FCI Englewood, breakfast is served at 6:00 a.m., lunch is available during midday shifts, and dinner is provided after the 4:00 p.m. headcount of inmates.
Once a successful Subway spokesperson who gained fame for his weight loss journey, Fogle’s life took a dark turn in 2015 when he was arrested for child pornography and soliciting sex with minors. He pleaded guilty to these charges and was sentenced to over 15 years in prison.
Despite his attempts to have his sentence reduced, Fogle has been unsuccessful, and he must serve at least 85% of his term. His projected release date is March 24, 2029, and he will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
Currently, Fogle leads a modest life in prison, spending minimal amounts at the commissary and engaging in activities like watching TV, writing letters, and using the prison’s messaging system.
