New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu criticized Gavin Newsom and Andrew Cuomo during a fireside chat at the Reagan Institute Summit on Education in Washington, D.C. Sununu stated that many governors get along with one another, but “no one really cared for” the two Democrats.
When asked by moderator Fred Ryan who were the governors “no one really cared for,” Sununu didn’t hold back. He described Gavin Newsom as “just a prick” and expressed disappointment in his behavior. Sununu also had harsh words for Andrew Cuomo, calling him a “complete jacka-s.”
Newsom’s office declined to comment on Sununu’s remarks, while Cuomo’s spokesperson responded by noting that it’s interesting to see both governors have similar feelings towards each other.
This isn’t the first time Newsom has been targeted by other governors. His ongoing rivalry with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has been well-documented, with both politicians exchanging public criticisms. Newsom has also faced jabs from Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker over California’s financial deficit.
Both Sununu and Newsom were considered as potential candidates for the 2024 presidential election but ultimately did not run. Sununu endorsed former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, while Newsom expressed his support for President Biden’s reelection.
