One example is Falun Gong, which faced persecution but managed to survive and garner support from human rights advocates, neighbors, and even local police officers. The party’s repressive tactics against Falun Gong have largely failed, as adherents have adapted by becoming grassroots information activists, spreading awareness, and challenging the persecution machinery. Despite the CCP’s attempts to control information flow through the Great Firewall, Falun Gong practitioners have developed ways to bypass censorship and share technology with others. The spiritual resilience of Falun Gong and other dissenting groups in China reflects the failure of the CCP to change people’s beliefs through brutality and coercion. The efforts of grassroots activists have made a significant impact, with examples like a Beijing native being released from detention due to public pressure and support. In response to the CCP’s overseas intimidation tactics, Falun Gong practitioners have faced harassment and threats from suspected Chinese agents. Police apprehended their relatives in China.

During a recent rally commemorating the April 25, 1999, Falun Gong appeal, organizers highlighted that nearly 430 million Chinese individuals have opted to sever their affiliations with CCP-connected organizations they were once part of.
