WASHINGTON—Late Friday night, six individuals were shot outside Decades nightclub in Washington, D.C., according to police reports.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the Dupont Circle area of the city.
Assistant Chief Ramey Kyle of the Metropolitan Police Department stated that law enforcement was alerted to the situation after a disagreement broke out inside the club and escalated onto the street.
All six victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the shooting, authorities confirmed.
A suspect was apprehended in close proximity to the scene, and a firearm was recovered, added Mr. Kyle. Further details regarding the suspect and the cause of the altercation were not immediately disclosed by the police.
Washington, D.C., is currently grappling with a significant surge in violent crime, with a 39 percent increase reported in 2023. This spike was primarily driven by a 35 percent rise in homicides and a nearly doubled rate of carjackings.
