The suspect wearing a mask allegedly abducted a Florida driver at gunpoint before she was found dead hours later in her burned-up SUV. The suspect, Jordanish Torres-Garcia, confessed to police that he was paid to drop her off to someone involved in the crime, as per a report.
Torres-Garcia admitted to pointing a semiautomatic rifle at Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvivas’ SUV in broad daylight in an Orlando suburb on April 11, based on a court affidavit obtained by NBC South Florida Thursday.
A major development in the case occurred when Garcia revealed to an FBI agent that he was paid $1,500 to abduct the 31-year-old woman.
Garcia mentioned that he obtained the gun half an hour before the abduction but it was not loaded during the crime, according to the outlet.
The suspect was observed exiting a green-tinted Acura after ramming Guerrero De Aguasvivas’ SUV for about a half-mile.
He was captured on camera jumping out of the car at a stoplight, pointing his gun at the driver’s seat, then entering the rear passenger seat while Guerrero De Aguasvivas remained in the driver’s seat.
Hours later, Guerrero De Aguasvivas’ body was discovered in her burned SUV in a rural area of Orlando.
She was found with multiple fatal gunshot wounds, as stated in the affidavit.
Approximately a dozen shell casings were found at the crime scene, consistent with the 10mm handgun the kidnapper was brandishing.
Garcia was apprehended last week on a federal warrant for violating probation from a weapons charge in Puerto Rico.
Police connected him to the crime after identifying that the sweatshirt worn by the kidnapping suspect was similar to the one Garcia wore in his Facebook profile picture.
He is currently held at the Seminole County Jail in Florida on a charge of carjacking resulting in death.
Investigations revealed that the last person to speak with Guerrero De Aguasvivas before her death was Giovany Joel Crespo Hernandez via Facetime, according to a statement by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.
“It’s believed she was on her way to meet Crespo Hernandez at his Casselberry home to deliver money and other items,” the statement noted.
“This case is about drugs and money,” stated Sheriff Dennis Lemma.
“We believe the most dangerous people connected with this case are now off our streets.”
Crespo Hernandez, 27, surrendered himself on Monday night at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility on an active warrant for fentanyl trafficking and marijuana with intent to sell.
He has not been charged with Guerrero De Aguasvivas’ murder, according to the authorities.
In addition, Hernandez’s girlfriend was arrested on Friday after accepting a delivery of 3 kilos of cocaine arranged by Homeland Security Investigations.
The department also announced that the suspected individual behind the wheel of the green Acura had been apprehended.
Kevin Ocasio Justiniano, 28, was taken into custody in Puerto Rico on unrelated drug trafficking and weapons charges.
“Both cases will be referred to the US Attorney’s Office and are expected to be charged with carjacking resulting in a death,” as per the department.
