A tragic incident occurred in St. Louis as a 16-year-old named Colin Brown lost his life after being struck by a stray bullet on a highway last weekend. Brown was returning home in his father’s car after a hockey game when the unfortunate incident took place. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the high school junior passed away on Wednesday, as confirmed by the police.
Describing the event as “rare,” police spokesman Mitch McCoy highlighted the uncommon occurrence of someone being hit by a stray bullet within the city limits. While no arrests have been made yet, authorities have received tips and obtained new video evidence to aid in the investigation.
Over 200 individuals gathered for a vigil in honor of Brown, with his hockey team members also coming together to commemorate his life. The St. Louis Blues have announced plans to observe a moment of silence before their upcoming Saturday hockey game as a tribute to the young victim.
Blake Ryan, an assistant coach of Brown’s team, expressed, “He’s the first guy to pat you when you’re down and the first to celebrate you when you’re up. He was a natural leader and always quick to do the right thing,” reflecting on Brown’s character and leadership qualities.
