Nine out of the 12 men who were arrested are either from Mexico or El Salvador.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) made an announcement on July 3 regarding the apprehension of 12 criminal illegal immigrants who were wanted for various offenses, including indecent sexual contact with a child and human smuggling.
Alvina Sanchez-Castaneda was apprehended for child smuggling, while Juan Francisco Molina-Garcia was detained for sexual assault and for failing to appear in court for a DUI case.
Two other Mexican nationals who were arrested include Jesus Medina, who was taken into custody in Houston for indecency with a child through sexual contact, and Israel Armando Salazar-Tovar, who had been wanted since February 2022 for human smuggling.
Four of the arrested criminal illegal immigrants were from El Salvador, including Juan Herrera-Lizama and Pedro Constanza-Lopez, both of whom had been sought since 2022 for indecency with a child through sexual contact.
Also hailing from El Salvador were Samuel Alexander Castro-Canas, who was arrested for human smuggling, and Rigoberto Arman Arevalo-Zavala, who was detained for sexual assault.
Another individual arrested was Raysel Carrion-Tamayo, a Cuban national who had been wanted since August 2023 for sexual assault. His criminal record includes charges of commercial sex trafficking, aggravated promotion of prostitution, and human trafficking.
The DPS also apprehended Mario Samuel Asencio, a Guatemalan national, for probation violation related to deadly conduct and discharge of a firearm, and Alex Adriel Rios-Guzman, a Honduran national wanted in Dallas County for sexual assault and in Wichita County for DUI.
Previously, two Mexican fugitives from the Texas “10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants” list were arrested—Servando Trejo Duran Jr. and Victor Hugo Chox Gonzalez.
Mr. Duran was arrested for a parole violation, while Mr. Chox Gonzalez was detained for aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child through sexual contact, according to the DPS.
“Texas is a law-and-order state, and with the help of our fellow Texans, we will ensure that the illegal immigrants on this list are taken off our streets and put behind bars to keep our communities safe,” he stated.
The new initiative, which provides cash rewards for information leading to the arrest of the criminal illegal immigrants on the list, was established in collaboration with the Texas DPS and funded by the governor’s Public Safety Office.
