Disturbing Bar Assault in Downtown Dallas Caught on Video
Shocking footage captured the moment a Texas man armed with a 5-foot-long tree branch resembling a spear attacked a bar patron and an employee in downtown Dallas.
Adam Mercado and his girlfriend, Taylor Monnet, were enjoying a night out at City Tavern when they encountered the man with the branch, as seen on social media footage.
The man had fashioned the branch into a spear, estimated to be about five feet long, but Mercado decided to continue socializing with his group on the bar’s patio.
However, in the early hours of Saturday, the man attacked Mercado with the branch, causing him to collapse on the ground in pain.
The assailant then proceeded to punch a bar employee in the face before calmly walking away from the scene.
Following the incident, Mercado’s girlfriend sought help from the bar staff as Mercado declined an ambulance ride due to concerns about the cost.
After experiencing symptoms of a concussion, Mercado eventually sought medical attention and was diagnosed with a concussion.
The couple is urging the community to stay vigilant as the attacker remains unidentified, and they are asking for any information that could lead to his arrest.
Despite the traumatic experience, Mercado remains grateful to be alive and hopes for justice to be served. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Since the beginning of the year, Dallas has reported over 2,000 aggravated assaults and over 7,000 simple assaults city-wide, with over 500 violent crimes in May alone, according to data from the Dallas Police Department.
