A Texas Teen Arrested for Allegedly Fatally Shooting Sonic Manager
A Texas teen has been taken into custody after more than three months on the run following the fatal shooting of a Sonic manager during an argument over counterfeit money. Adiah Roberson, 17, was apprehended in a Dallas apartment complex parking lot after being listed on the Texas 10 Most Wanted list since July 16, as reported by Fox 4 News.
Roberson is accused of killing Daniel Shrewsbury while he was working at a San Antonio Sonic on July 7. Shrewsbury, who tragically lost his life just days before his 34th birthday, got into an altercation with Roberson and two others when they attempted to use counterfeit money to pay for food.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, Shrewsbury tried to take a picture of the suspects’ license plate as they left the establishment. One of the suspects, Joshua Joseph, allegedly threatened Shrewsbury with a gun, and Roberson then opened fire on him before fleeing the scene.
Shrewsbury was declared dead at the scene, leaving behind grieving family members who described him as a caring and hardworking individual who enjoyed spending time with loved ones.
Roberson, who was also wanted for forgery of a government document, has been booked into the Dallas County jail on charges of murder and forgery. She is set to be transferred to San Antonio to face trial, with the possibility of being tried as a juvenile due to her age.
Authorities tracked down Roberson in Dallas following a tip from US Marshals, and she is currently being held on a $520,000 bond. If convicted of capital murder as a juvenile tried as an adult in Texas, Roberson could face an automatic life sentence with the possibility of parole after 40 years, as per the Texas Penal Code.
Justice is being sought for the senseless tragedy that took the life of Daniel Shrewsbury, a beloved member of his community and family.
