Texas authorities have released a top 10 Most Wanted list of criminal illegal immigrants, featuring individuals wanted for sexual assault, murder, and making terroristic threats.
Governor Greg Abbott unveiled the list, in collaboration with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), on Wednesday.
As per a press release, this initiative aims to locate and apprehend repeat offenders who have illegally entered the country and are wanted for dangerous crimes committed in Texas.
Several of the individuals on the list have multiple offenses on record, with eight of them facing charges related to sex crimes – six of which involve children.
Among the Most Wanted is Omar David Zavala, an individual who illegally entered the US from El Salvador. He is wanted for sexual assault and making terroristic threats, last seen in Spring, TX. Authorities warn that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Also featured on the list is 26-year-old Mexican Castro Zubiate, facing charges of human trafficking in El Paso county.
After posting bail, Zubiate allegedly skipped bail and has been missing since. The charges against him – two counts of Smuggling of Persons for Pecuniary Benefit – are felonies punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
Another individual on the list is 62-year-old Mexican Immigrant Servando Trejo Duran, Jr., with a criminal record including Homicide, Burglary of Residence, Burglary of Vehicle, and Tampering with Government Records. He went missing from Baytown, Texas while on parole violation. Authorities caution that he is armed and dangerous, using multiple aliases.
The complete list of fugitives, along with mugshots, last known addresses, and details of their crimes, is available on the Texas Department of Safetyâs website.
Steve McCraw, DPS Director, stated in the press release, âCriminals from around the world who enter the United States illegally and commit crimes in Texas are a threat to public safety. Individuals on Texasâ 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List are likely to commit other crimes, and DPS is enlisting the publicâs help in apprehending these offenders before they commit additional crimes.â
Texans are urged to report any sightings of these individuals to authorities, without attempting to apprehend them themselves.
