A man from Texas has been found guilty of killing three individuals, dismembering their bodies, and burning them after admitting to being called to “commit sacrifices.”
Jason Thornburg was convicted of capital murder and now faces the decision of receiving a death sentence or life in prison without parole by the Tarrant County jury that convicted him.
In September 2021, Thornburg committed the gruesome acts and confessed to investigators about feeling compelled to carry out “ritualistic sacrifices” and consuming parts of the victims’ bodies.
His defense argued that he was insane during the murders due to a severe mental condition.
Thornburg also admitted to killing his roommate in a home explosion in May 2021 and his girlfriend in Arizona in 2017 when he was arrested on murder charges.
During the punishment phase of the trial, the court revisited the previous murders Thornburg committed, including the one involving his roommate and girlfriend.
The families of the victims are not allowed to make public statements until the punishment phase is concluded.
