The Orwellian Concept of ‘Democracy With Chinese Characteristics’

The Chinese Communist Party disregards civilized norms. They promote “democracy with Chinese characteristics,” urging other countries to respect China’s government system without questioning its legitimacy. The CCP celebrates “democratic reforms” in China, but the reality of these reforms remains questionable. The CCP’s version of democracy differs significantly from traditional democratic principles, as they control elections, restrict speech, and manipulate information. Their version of “deliberative democracy” is a facade, covering up their absolute political control. The CCP’s definition of democracy does not align with the standards set by Western democratic governments, lacking principles such as individual autonomy, equality, and freedom of expression. The CCP’s regime maintains authoritarian control over its citizens, undermining the true essence of democracy. The Chinese democracy is a distorted version of democratic norms seen in the civilized world. Despite this, Global Times encourages the celebration of Serfs’ Emancipation Day in Tibet. According to Global Times, the growth and future of Tibet are promising, with the region contributing to China’s modernization. However, the reality of the CCP’s persecution of religion, including the Dalai Lama and Tibetan Buddhists, tells a different story. The increased state control over religion since 2016 reflects the totalitarianism of “democracy with Chinese characteristics,” which limits universal freedoms.
