Recent years have brought uncertainty and doubt to many aspects of the U.S. system of government. Trust has eroded, spanning from medicine to media, tech, academia, and government itself.
This trend is not unique to the United States. Around the world, countries are grappling with political and social upheaval, shifting from stability to instability, certainty to uncertainty, and clarity to confusion. This upheaval has led many to question the efficacy of democratic systems in choosing leaders.
Doubts surrounding the integrity of election processes have been particularly pronounced in the U.S. Voting rule changes during the pandemic and subsequent refugee waves have fueled skepticism, leaving many feeling disenfranchised and powerless.
This crisis of confidence has deeply affected the U.S. population, exacerbated by doubts and disruptions in the voting process. The result is a sense of being trapped in a system controlled by elites.
The surprising election results, with Republicans winning across various levels, including the popular vote, have shaken the foundation of belief in the democratic process. Many wondered if their voices truly mattered amidst elite power.
The unexpected victory of Donald J. Trump, including the popular vote, marked a significant moment in history. It demonstrated that the people’s will can prevail over challenges like money, manipulation, and uncertainty.
This outcome also dispelled doubts about the Electoral College system and prevented potential street violence. The peaceful transition of power showcased the strength of democracy in resolving conflicts without resorting to violence.
Americans’ active participation in the electoral process in 2024 highlighted the impact of individual voices in shaping the nation’s future, fostering a sense of civic responsibility and pride.
This experience reaffirmed the wisdom of the Founders and the enduring value of democratic principles in mitigating social unrest and preserving peace.
Overall, the 2024 election illustrated the power of democracy to unite diverse visions under one peaceful umbrella, averting potential turmoil and division.
Importantly, the outcomes reverberated globally, inspiring millions and billions to witness the possibility of challenging the established norms, the media, the academic elites, and the entire system of intimidation and control, all while maintaining civility and public order.
Once again, America has demonstrated a valuable lesson to the world on how it can be achieved. It has been a while since we could take pride in that. With the lockdowns and escalating political tensions, many around the world had doubts about whether this country could still lead by example. But we did. This example will resonate worldwide, inspiring “populist” movements in various nations. It was not through force or financial influence, but by being a beacon of hope in the darkness.
We should not underestimate the impact of this. People globally look to the United States to uphold free speech, ensure election integrity, promote democratic ideals, and embrace living together under a system of transparent integrity.
There is a long road ahead for much-needed and comprehensive reform, and we can only hope that the new administration is willing to take the necessary steps. Nonetheless, Election Day marked a promising beginning, demonstrating to the world that freedom still prevails and is cherished here, as it should be everywhere.
Do you suddenly feel a sense of pride in what we have here, despite the imperfections and mistakes? I certainly do. It has been a long time coming, but it appears that we have finally reached this point. For that, we should all be profoundly grateful.
