Once again, the 15-year-old Venezuelan migrant featured in Wednesday’s Post as a shocking member of the Tren de Aragua junior-varsity squad “Los Diablos de la 42” has been arrested on new charges after the publication went to press.
Sources from the Post report that the boy was taken into custody Tuesday night for allegedly brandishing a knife at a 34-year-old man at Ninth Avenue and West 35th Street around 7 p.m. on September 30. The teen and a friend reportedly assaulted the victim and demanded his phone while threatening him with a kitchen knife.
The victim managed to escape, and the perpetrator was identified with the help of a surveillance camera.
This marks at least the 11th arrest of this “little devil” since April, yet he remains free to wander the streets and reside in taxpayer-funded shelters.
He is just one of approximately 20 “asylum seeker” minors in Los Diablos — the “devils of 42nd street,” known for their criminal activities in Times Square.
This specific individual has been apprehended for multiple first- and second-degree robberies, including thefts of phones and chains in public areas and the subway.
Our sources indicate that he is currently residing in the city shelter system, although not necessarily at the Roosevelt Hotel where the gang is based and recruits most of its members.
The entire Diablos crew has been linked to at least 50 criminal incidents, shielded by the state’s criminal justice “reforms,” particularly the Raise the Age law, which makes it challenging to charge individuals under 18 as adults, regardless of their criminal record (until a fatal incident occurs).
The revised bail laws and the city’s “sanctuary” policies do not aid the situation either.
Additionally, the court-mandated “right to shelter” ensures that these individuals have accommodation at the expense of taxpayers.
Furthermore, the public inadvertently funds their online boasting about their criminal activities: “They use group chat on their government-issued phones, and the group app is named after their gang. They are using their government-issued phones,” stated Detective Bureau Assistant Chief Jason Savino.
New York’s political leaders may label themselves as “progressive,” but their actions only contribute to the escalating chaos.
