In California, some election results remain too close to call, with more than 570,000 votes still to be counted and another 126,000 to be cured as of Nov. 19. The U.S. House of Representatives race in the state’s 45th district is one of the closest, with incumbent Rep. Michelle Steel trailing Democrat challenger Derek Tran by 314 votes. Another tight race involves Rep. John Duarte maintaining a slight edge of 227 votes over Democrat Adam Gray in the 13th district. Additionally, Democrat Dave Min holds a nearly 10,000 vote advantage over Republican Scott Baugh in the 47th district. Republicans are likely to retain control of the House of Representatives and secure a majority in the Senate. Democrats will maintain their supermajority in the California state Legislature, but Republicans may flip some seats, including the 37th district in the state Senate. In the Assembly, two seats could potentially flip from blue to red, with fewer than 500 votes separating candidates in the 58th Assembly district. Republican businessman Jeff Gonzalez has claimed victory in the 36th district, while incumbent Republican Greg Wallis is on pace to keep his seat in District 47. If vote totals hold, the Assembly will be controlled by Democrats 60-19, with one seat vacant. Vice President Kamala Harris leads in the presidential vote count in California. Voters also considered 10 ballot measures, with most having wide margins separating the two sides.
