TikTok, along with all other CCP-controlled media in the United States, should be prohibited. The facade of TikTok’s private ownership and short dance videos has been stripped away in RedNote, revealing explicit propaganda and censorship from the CCP. TikTokers’ migration has shown that the US Congress’ efforts against CCP influence are ineffective, and even offers to purchase TikTok at market value have fallen short.
The CCP annually steals billions from the US in intellectual property, so nationalizing TikTok could serve as partial recompense. If nationalized, the app’s algorithm should be redesigned to be educational yet entertaining. If a ban is necessary, it should extend to all CCP-linked apps, including RedNote.
An article in 2021 revealed TikTok’s bias towards the CCP, potentially influencing millions of young Americans. Congress must take decisive action against CCP influence, starting with TikTok and RedNote, but not stopping there.
