The audience maintained silence for the initial half-hour until the topic of military recruiting was broached.
This nation has taken a concerning direction, and the actions of the Democrats are transforming it into the very thing I escaped from.
Having served as Virginia’s lieutenant governor, governor, and senator, Kaine, a former governor of the Commonwealth, has never faced defeat in a statewide election throughout his career. Despite the loss in the 2016 presidential race as Hillary Clinton’s running mate, Kaine secured victory in Virginia with a margin of over 200,000 votes.
This marks Cao’s second attempt at running for office. In the previous election cycle, he was defeated by the incumbent Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D-Va.) in a contest for representing the 10th congressional district in northern Virginia.
Initially agreeing to partake in four debates with Cao, Kaine had previously committed to the debates. However, Cao stated last month that he believed one debate would suffice.
Endorsed by former President and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, Cao stated during his address at the Republican National Convention in July, “Virginia will choose me and President Trump. Together, we will work towards saving America.”
Commencing on September 20, early in-person voting kicked off in Virginia. Absent any unforeseen developments in October, securing a Cao victory riding on Trump’s influence appears to be an uphill battle.
