The United States is taking a firm stance against China’s aggressive behavior. This could influence other Western countries and allies to do the same. To strengthen alliances and prevent allies from leaning towards China, the United States should take additional steps.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) often uses trade threats and has been disrespectful towards the United States and Canada while calling for better relations. President Donald Trump is not easily swayed by these tactics. By easing planned tariffs on Canada in response to China’s tariffs, the United States could benefit greatly with minimal effort.
Canadians prefer a democratic ally over the Beijing regime. Canada recently supported a tough stance on China, showing that keeping Canada on America’s side is achievable with a friendlier approach. Helping Canadian farmers counter China’s planned tariffs would be appreciated.

By advocating for global relaxation of tariffs on Canadian products targeted by China, the United States can support its ally and weaken China’s leverage.
