Former President Donald Trump’s campaign states that it surpassed President Joe Biden’s campaign in fundraising during the second quarter and currently holds more cash on hand than his Democratic opponent.
The press release, issued by Donald J. Trump for President 2024 Inc., highlights that the campaign raised $331 million between April and June, surpassing the $264 million raised by the Democratic National Committee during the same period.
While the accuracy of these figures cannot be confirmed independently yet, as regulatory bodies like the Federal Election Commission have not released public disclosure statements for June activities, quarterly reporting committees are expected to disclose financials on July 15, with monthly disclosure entities following suit on July 20.
These forthcoming documents will provide the public with a comprehensive overview of each candidate’s financial standings in the 2024 election cycle.
In a joint statement, Trump campaign senior advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles emphasized that “polling and voter enthusiasm continue to grow for President Trump.”
Three polls released on July 2 by CNN, USA Today/Suffolk University Political Research Center, and I&I/TIPP showed varying results, with two indicating former President Trump leading and one showing former President Biden in the lead.
The Trump campaign’s June report indicated a fundraising total of approximately $111.8 million, though it did not specify the specific committees that received the funds.
Conversely, Biden for President’s principal campaign committee reported raising $127 million in June, in partnership with the Democratic National Committee and associated joint fundraising committees.
Recent FEC disclosures from June 20 revealed that former President Trump held a financial advantage over President Biden, with fundraising groups linked to the Trump campaign closing out May with around $214.8 million in cash on hand, compared to the Biden groups’ $183.9 million.
Additionally, Republican Party committees—such as the Republican National Committee, National Republican Congressional Committee, and National Republican Senatorial Committee—outpaced their Democratic counterparts in fundraising for the first time in 2024, according to federal disclosures from May.
GOP leaders attributed this fundraising success to public outrage following a New York jury’s felony convictions against former President Trump, resulting in record-breaking donations in the aftermath of the verdict.
The Biden for President campaign noted a surge in donations, raising over $33 million post the June 27 televised debate between the presumptive nominees.
Both President Biden and former President Trump are anticipated to secure their party’s presidential nominations at the upcoming summer conventions, with the Republican National Convention set for Milwaukee on July 15–18 and the Democratic National Convention scheduled for Chicago on Aug 19–22.
