A confidential memo from political strategist Tony Fabrizio to the Trump 2024 presidential campaign leadership indicates that the recent conviction of former President Donald Trump did not have an impact on voters in key swing states. Despite a surge in awareness of the trial, voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin showed no change in their voting preferences following the guilty verdict.
The memo, obtained by The Epoch Times, reveals that President Trump’s lead in the battleground states remained steady across three ballot iterations. Even though awareness of the trial spiked after the guilty verdict, voters appeared unfazed by the outcome and continued to support President Trump.
While national polls may show shifts in voter preferences based on the unfavorable ruling, the memo emphasizes that President Trump’s path to 270 Electoral Votes runs through the seven target states, where no discernible impact has been observed so far. The memo also highlights a significant fundraising boost for the Trump campaign following the guilty verdict, with nearly $53 million raised in 24 hours.
President Trump’s lead over President Biden in the battleground states remains consistent, indicating strong support for the former president despite the trial. The memo contrasts earlier polling that suggested some Republican-leaning voters might not support President Trump if convicted of a felony, underscoring the resilience of his base in the face of legal challenges. President Biden stated on Friday that he was not involved in the trial and emphasized that his convicted opponent had ample opportunity to defend himself. He clarified that it was a state case, not a federal one, heard by a jury of 12 American citizens. The jury selection process was standard and Trump’s attorney was involved in it, as mentioned by President Biden from the White House.
In an effort to sway voters in seven battleground states to support President Trump, his campaign launched a new grassroots voter outreach initiative called “Trump Force 47.” This initiative aims to engage targeted voters through a neighbor-to-neighbor organizing model, building on President Trump’s successful primary efforts and collaborating with state and local Republican parties to ensure voter turnout in November.
Campaign advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles expressed that Trump supporters and Republicans are highly motivated to defend the President from Joe Biden and his team while supporting his mission to safeguard the country.
