The president-elect has selected Frank Bisignano, the president of fintech company Fiserv, to lead the Social Security Administration. President-elect Donald Trump made the announcement on Dec. 4, highlighting Bisignano’s business leadership and track record in transforming large corporations. The nomination is subject to Senate confirmation.
Trump has emphasized his commitment to protecting social security, a vital program for many older and disabled Americans. The appointment of Bisignano comes as part of the president-elect’s efforts to fill key roles in his incoming administration.
Bisignano, currently serving as the president and CEO of Fiserv, a financial technology company based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has a background in high-profile positions within the financial sector. His previous roles include managing the mortgage unit at JPMorgan Chase during a time of crisis.
In addition to his professional career, Bisignano has been a significant donor to Republican candidates, including Trump. If confirmed, he will succeed Carolyn Colvin as the head of the Social Security Administration, following previous leaders such as Martin O‘Malley and Kilolo Kijakazi.
During Trump’s first term, Andrew Saul served as the agency’s final commissioner before being fired by President Joe Biden. The union representing Social Security Administration employees called for Saul’s termination, leading to Nancy Berryhill assuming the role of acting commissioner.
