Former President Donald Trump’s campaign on Friday named his presidential transition team, which includes his two oldest sons and a major fundraiser.
The team will be co-chaired by Linda McMahon, co-founder of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), and Howard Lutnick, chairman and CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, as announced in an email.
Additionally, the team includes Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), Trump’s running mate, along with Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump serving as honorary chairmen.
The formation of Trump Vance 2025 Transition, Inc., a 501(c) nonprofit, was announced to prepare for a potential second administration.
The Trump campaign stated, “The 2024 GOP Platform to Make America Great Again is a forward-looking agenda that will deliver safety, prosperity, and freedom for the American people. My administration will deliver on these bold promises. We will restore strength, competence, and common sense to the Oval Office. I have absolute confidence the Trump-Vance Administration will be ready to govern effectively on Day One.”
Creating a transition team before Election Day is a common practice for presidential campaigns to ensure a smooth transition to the White House if the candidate is elected.
McMahon, who previously served as the administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration under the Trump administration, is now leading the America First Policy Institute think tank.
Lutnick has been actively fundraising for Trump and hosted events to support his campaign efforts.
Donald Trump Jr. expressed his interest in being involved in the hiring process for a potential second Trump administration with “veto power” to prevent unsuitable candidates from being selected.
Eric Trump highlighted legal cases involving his father in a speech delivered at the Republican National Convention.
Vice President Kamala Harris has not yet named a transition team, with the Democratic National Convention scheduled to take place in Chicago.
In 2016, Trump dissolved a significant portion of his transition team that was established before winning the election, which was led by former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.
