Pete Hoekstra, who previously served as the U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands and represented Michigan’s 2nd District in Congress, has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to be the ambassador to Canada.
Trump expressed confidence in Hoekstra, stating, “In my Second Term, Pete will help me once again put America first. He did an outstanding job as United States Ambassador to the Netherlands during our first four years, and I am confident that he will continue to represent our Country well in this new role. Thank you, Pete!”
During his time in Congress, Hoekstra served in Michigan’s 2nd District for almost two decades and chaired the House Intelligence Committee. He also played a significant role in the 2024 general election as chairman of the Michigan Republican Party, supporting the Trump campaign in the state.
This is a breaking story and will be updated.
