Former President Donald Trump has announced a rally set for Oct. 27 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, causing a stir on social media. A senior official from the Trump presidential campaign confirmed the date to The Epoch Times but did not provide further details.
The rally is scheduled just nine days before the Nov. 5 presidential election, where Trump will face Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee. Madison Square Garden, known for hosting iconic events like the Joe Frazier-Muhammad Ali fight in 1971, can accommodate around 20,000 people.
Despite New York being a stronghold for Democrats, Trump has declared his intention to make a significant push for the state. Trump, who believes he has a good chance of winning New York where he spent much of his life before relocating to Florida, aims to turn the traditionally blue state red.
However, analysts remain skeptical about Trump’s ability to secure enough support to win New York, as no Republican presidential candidate has achieved victory in the state since Ronald Reagan in 1984. Despite this challenge, Trump is determined to make his mark in the city where he built his business empire and gained fame through “The Apprentice.”
Jason Meister, a Trump advisory board member, expressed confidence in Trump’s ability to potentially flip New York red, citing the former president’s strong presence and appeal. Trump previously drew thousands of supporters to a rally in the Bronx, showcasing his ability to attract a significant audience.
Meister emphasized the significance of holding a rally at Madison Square Garden, describing it as a demonstration of strength and dominance in a city known for its competitive and unforgiving nature. Trump’s roots in New York, coupled with his brash and direct communication style, have positioned him as a formidable figure in the state’s political landscape.
Despite facing backlash from some of New York’s elite following his transition from Democrat to Republican and his presidency, Trump remains undeterred in his efforts to win over the state. Legal challenges and controversies have not dampened Trump’s determination to leave a lasting impact on New York’s political scene.
